Eileen B. Copen, 77, of Willow Park, Texas, went home to be with Jesus her Savior on June 2, 2016 following a brief illness. She was born in Akron on January 23, 1939. Before moving to Texas to be with family in 2014, Eileen had been a life-long resident of the Akron and Brimfield areas.
Eileen was co-salutatorian of the 1956 graduating class of Ellet High School. Following graduation, she began working at the First National Bank of Akron. Although the bank changed names through the years, she was employed there as a teller until her retirement from the Tallmadge branch in 1995. Reading, crocheting, and doing puzzles were some of the things she enjoyed doing in her spare time.
Mrs. Copen was a long-time faithful and active member of First Freedom Baptist Church in Brimfield.
She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Frances (Graham) Brittain, and wife of the late Warner Lee "Sonny" Fasig Jr., and the late Harold G. Copen. She is also preceded in death by stepson, Lloyd Copen. She is survived in death by brother, Robert (Patricia) Brittain of Bemidji, Minnesota; sister, Patricia Dyar of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Jill Fasig Lawrence; stepsons, Harold J. "Buck" Copen, Denzel Copen, and Brian (Michelle) Copen; stepdaughters, Doris (Jim) Gomez and Vicki (Tony) Spradley; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many precious friends.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 2-5 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with visitation for one hour prior at First Freedom Baptist Church, 2171 Tallmadge Rd., Brimfield, Pastor Dan Alexoff officiating. Interment at Grandview Memorial Park.
