Doris Virginia Self, age 86, of Springfield Twp., Ohio, passed away October 3, 2016, at her home. Doris was born in Alabama City, Alabama on February 21, 1930 to the late Dan and Martha Stanfield Ballinger.
Mrs. Self was a longtime member of the Millheim Baptist Church. She liked wintering, with her husband, in Camp Inn Resort in Frostproof, FL for over 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, Billie R. Self, whom she married on December 24, 1949; her children, Steve A. (June) Self, I, Janice (Vaughn "Popeye") Easterling, and Margaret L. (Lee) Dillworth; her seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Millheim Baptist Church, 2683 Hayne Road, Akron, where Pastor Kim Lawrence will celebrate Doris' life. Family and friends may visit at the church from Noon until the time of the service.
Doris will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron.
