John Emil Ellenberger, Sr., 74, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 27, 2016. He was born on December 11, 1941 to the late Ernest and Mary Ellenberger. John graduated from Marlington High School, Class of 1959 and then served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. He held many positions over the years, working for Monarch Rubber in Hartville, a Police Officer for the City of Cuyahoga Falls, and as a Security Officer. As a hobby, he enjoyed doing lawn care, which turned into a small business for him, keeping him busy in his later years. John will be fondly remembered as "Papa Buffalo," a nickname given to him by his beloved grandchildren.
John is loved and survived by his wife of 50 years, Tamara Ellenberger; children, Mary (Stephen) Lowther, John Ellenberger, Jr., and Don Ellenberger; and grandchildren, Rachel, Victoria, Grace, Sophie, Emily, Allyson and Colden.
Graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2643 Waterloo Rd., Mogadore, Ohio 44260. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home.
