Thomas Edward Kelly

Thomas Edward Kelly, "Tom", age 78, of Akron, Ohio, died on May 13, 2017 at Akron General Hospital.
He was born August 15, 1938 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late Louis J. and Marcella Lengerich Kelly.
Tom was a 1956 graduate of St. Vincent dePaul High School and also a member of the church.
He was an honorably discharged US Marine Veteran serving during Korea.
Mr. Kelly was retired, after 35 years of service, from Akron General Medical Center in the maintenance stock room. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing; his dogs, Abbie and Gibbs. He will be missed by many friends and relatives, Tom never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife, the former Judith E. Roberts, whom he married on September 17, 1977; his sister, Octavia (Jack) Wylie; and many nieces and nephews; his sisters-in-law, Swanee Roberts, Jerry Kelly, and Faye Kelly.
Other than his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Robert Kelly; his sisters, Jane Eikleberry, and Rosemary Snell.
A funeral Mass will take place at 9:30 AM at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 164 West Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44303 on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Father Norm Douglas will celebrate Tom's life.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Family and friends may also gather at the funeral home Saturday morning for prayers at 8:45 AM before preceding to the church for Mass.
Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery...***ONLY IMMEDIATE FAMILY AND PALLBEARERS ARE TO PROCESS WITH THE FUNERAL HOME TO THE CEMETERY FOLLOWING THE MASS.***
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Jim Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund of St. Vincent/St. Mary High School, 15 North Maple Street, Akron, Ohio 44303.
