Edwin Eugene Stephens Sr.

Edwin "Gene" Eugene Stephens Sr., 86, passed away suddenly on June 24, 2017. He grew up in Tallmadge, OH. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge Gene worked at Ace Rubber in Akron, and then was a mailman in Tallmadge for 32 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Guy and Mary Stephens. Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Theresa; his children, Pamela (Henry) Douglas of Mogadore, OH, Paula (Butch) Siler of Cheyenne, WY, and Edwin Eugene Stephens Jr. of Tallmadge, OH; step-children, Kevin (Marianne) Tamminen of Uniontown, OH, David (Tracy) Tamminen of Uniontown, OH, Terry (Donald) Montgomery; grandchildren: Michael Siler, Mitch (Kim), Dan (Karen), Tim, and Amanda Douglas, Miranda Hall, Don and Rebecca Siler, David, Sarah, Shaina, and Hannah Tamminen, Kennedy and Cameron Haring, Brandy, Shannon, and Chad Scott, Kearra Siler, and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law; and special friend, Dave Bolt.

Visitation will be held Friday June 30, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305 from 5-7 p.m., with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
