Betty E. Hughey, age 93 of Louisville, Ohio, formerly of Akron, Ohio, died on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at St. Joseph Senior Living.
She was born in Akron on July 21, 1924, the daughter of the late Julian Slade and Ruth Gershwin Hicks.
Mrs. Hughey was a bank teller for 1st National Bank of Akron which then became 1st Merit Bank. Betty loved playing bingo, shopping, garage and yard sales, she loved to craft-macrame, she was a great baker, she was also an animal lover.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Louis) Ferrante, Robin (David) Gibson, and Jerry Hughey; her grandchildren, David Ferrante, Monica (Brandon) Foreman, Tiffany Kellaway, Nathaniel Gibson, and Kyle Gibson; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Vera (Jim) Seiler; and two nephews, Mark (Sue) Seiler and Jeff (Bev) Seiler.
Other than her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Harding Hughey; one grandson, Daniel Hunter; and her brother, Russell Hicks.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where family and friends may visit from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Father Michael Matusz will celebrate Betty's life.
