Helen E. Hickman

Helen E. Hickman, 88, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018. She was born in Akron on May 4, 1929. Helen enjoyed dancing in her younger years. She had a special love for animals and children. She served as a second mother to her beloved grandchildren and helped care for them as they grew up. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Thomas Hickman; son, Andrew Starr; parents, Clarence Tipton and Gladys Sietz; and siblings, Glenn Tipton, Roberta Kaser, and Tom Sietz. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Judy (Bill) Chester and Pamela (Paul) Soemisch; son, Dennis Starr; fifteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 10-11 followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
