Stephanie Jean Roush, age 60, passed on February 19, 2018 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in the nursing home due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Stephanie was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria M. Roush. She is survived by her loving father, Dr. William R. Roush; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Rusty Sims; beloved nephews, William, Cory, and Bradley; and many other special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was born on April 15, 1957 at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD. While she was young, she moved to Tallmadge, where she attended Weaver School and Workshop. Stephanie was very involved in her community. She was a cheerleader for Weaver Warriors, and for 30 years, she participated in and received many medals in the Special Olympics. Her favorite sports were track and field, swimming, and most recently, Nordic skiing.
Anyone who knew her would remember her smile and infectious giggle, which happened most often when she beat her nephews in Yahtzee or Uno. She loved her music and dancing. She was lucky enough to see her idols David Cassidy and Barry Manilow in concert. Stephanie loved to travel with her family. Her favorite trip was to Maryland every summer to see her beloved Aunt Babe, as well as many of her cousins. She loved holidays, visiting with family, and eating a lot of food! Stephanie was a roller coaster enthusiast, going to Geauga Lake every summer to catch her thrill on the rides.
Her parents and family didn't see her Down Syndrome as a disability. She definitely had ability. Alzheimer's was the true villain, taking her personality and her mobility.
No services will be held. Cremation has taken place.
