Barbara "Jean" Phillips, 84, of Akron, passed away February 26, 2018. Jean was born in Sabraton, West Virginia on December 3, 1933 to the late Floyd and Mildred Bucklew. Jean worked for many years at Chapel Hill Mall at the Popcorn Wagon and various other positions. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she was always willing to help anyone. Jean will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, Franklin Phillips; sons, Michael and Gary Phillips; sister, Roslea Bolyard and brothers, Edison and Ralph Bucklew, and her long-time companion, John Wear.
She is survived by her children, Franklin Phillips, Sr., Sandra (Alfred) Alwine, Cheryl (Larry) Leavitt; sisters, Dorothea Hoffman, Ellen Ridenour, Sunni Gavitt, and Mary Muhlenbruch; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received for visitation on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 3-6 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Guests are also welcome for visitation on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 11 am until time of funeral service beginning at 12 pm also at Newcomer Funeral Home. Jean will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
