Betty J. Prater

Betty J. Prater, 78, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2018. She was born Dec. 23, 1939 in Prestonsburg, KY to late parents James and Dorothy (Ramey) Hughes. Betty worked in the medical field until she retired from Akron General Medical Center in the billing department. In her spare time she enjoyed watching TV and keeping in touch with her family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dale Prater Sr., and daughter, Kim (Dyer) Wiley. She is survived by 2 sons, John (Lynn) Dyer of Mogadore, OH, Dale Prater Jr., of Akron; son-in-law, Jay Wiley of Barberton, OH; grandchildren, Katrina (Brandon) Triplett, Arlo (Amber) Wiley, Casey Prater, Cole Prater.

Family and friends will welcome guests at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 with funeral service to begin at 1:00pm. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park, Akron to follow.
