Rebecca Lynn Higgins, age 64 of Parma Hts., Ohio, died on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at her home.
She was born in Port Hueneme, California on June 15, 1954, the daughter of the late Roger Ellis and Florence (nee Hudkins) Bird.
Rebecca was a 1972 graduate of Garfield High School in Akron and also attended the University of Akron. She was a senior administrative assistant for Forrest City for many years. Rebecca enjoyed cooking, music and dancing, and loved to help others by volunteering. Her greatest enjoyment was being a mother to her two sons, Sean and Kyle, and grandmother to her three grandchildren, Nathan, Brayden, and Madelyn.
In addition to her sons and grandchildren, Rebecca is survived by her daughters-in-law, Hope Higgins and Amie Grant; her siblings, Kimberly (Tom) Sain, David (Gayle) Bird, Colleen (Brett) Padgett, Jennifer (Mike) Mercer, and Roger (Erin) Bird; and her step-mother, Karen Bird.
Other than her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her step-father, Thomas DeMita.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
