Henry J. Willmer "Hank", 84, of Akron, passed away on September 3, 2018. Hank was born on November 3, 1933 in Akron.
He graduated from Garfield High School in 1952. Hank retired as a Fire Captain with 33 years service with the Akron Fire Department. He recently retired from the Green Zoning Board. Hank attended Parkside Church Green Campus. He was very involved in youth football and served several years as the Head Commissioner of Suburban Youth Football. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. An avid Browns fan, Hank's family considered him a "football mad scientist".
Hank was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Henry and Clara Willmer; mother, Theresa Willmer; son, Robert Bruce Willmer; and his first wife, Melba Jean Willmer. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Brenda Willmer; children, Donna Cox and Michael (Kelly) Willmer; stepchildren, Catherine Kuhn, Cynthia Carr, Christina (Marc) Mattingly, and Michael Rejkowski (Tina); siblings, Erwin (Evelyn) Willmer and Caroline Jones; grandchildren, Amanda (Dustin) Wiggins and Henry John Willmer; seven step-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Parkside Church Green Campus, 4520 S. Arlington Rd., Uniontown 44685, where a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Hank will be privately laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
