Charles F. Gardner, age 90 of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home.
He was born on August 4, 1928 in Akron, the son of the late William A. and Bertha (nee Durbin) Gardner.
Mr. Gardner was an honorably discharged US Army veteran during peacetime.
Charles was a very loving man and was extremely devoted to his family. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife, the former Mary M. Reynolds. Charles also enjoyed fishing, and playing poker with his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Paul (Tami) Gardner, Theresa "Terry" (Bill) Benner, and Lynn (Gene) Bennett; his seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. His two sisters also survive, Carolyn Cioffi and Jane Drexler.
Other than his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary on April 19, 2013, they were united in marriage on January 29, 1949; his son, Tom Gardner; and his siblings, Richard, William, and Esther Gardner.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM, where Father Mike Williamson will celebrate Charles' life.
Family and friends may visit from 10:00 am - 1:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, Akron, Ohio.
