Mary Rose Waldrop

Mary Rose Waldrop (nee Burton), 86, of Mogadore, was promoted to Heaven and reunited with her late husband Rev. Gerald Waldrop Sr., on October 28, 2018. Mary Rose was born on May 1, 1932 in Akron, Ohio to the late Frank and Theresa Burton. She was the loving mother of seven children, grandmother of 15, and great-grandmother to 42. Mary Rose left a wonderful Irish heritage to her grandchildren of laughter, love, singing, and the Irish Jig. Her family will deeply miss her great sense of humor and her storytelling.

Mary Rose worked at Olan Mills for over 20 years, being named the top salesperson in US on multiple occasions. She was an amazing sales person who was notorious for her skills selling portraits, china, dinner to her family, and once, even an elephant!

She was a devoted born again Christian with a genuine relationship her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a mighty prayer warrior, who could be found every night at 11 looking out her back window and praying for every one of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their ministries. Since 1960, Mary Rose was a member of Akron Baptist Temple, and later at Arlington Memorial Baptist, as well as starting many ministries at other local churches. She spent 58 years traveling the country with her husband, son, and daughter in the Songsters Quartet.

In addition to her parents and seven siblings, Mary Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Rev. Gerald Waldrop Sr., and her twin infant sons, Lance and William.

Left to cherish Mary Rose's memory are her children, Deborah (Allan) Vertucci, Pamula (Gregory) Klapp, Rebecca (Michael) Phillips, Gerald (Sharon) Waldrop II, and Karen (Dale) Lawrence; 15 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are welcome to visit on Friday November 2, 2018 at Millheim Baptist Church 2661 Hayne Rd., Akron, OH 44312 from 10am until time of funeral service at 12pm. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Rose's honor to continue her ministries, Millheim Baptist Church 2661 Hayne Rd., Akron, OH 44312 or to the Songsters Quartet 1191 Martin Rd., Mogadore, OH 44260 (tax receipt upon request)
