Carol L. Leffler, 87, passed away January 26, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Akron on July 31, 1931 to Joseph and Daisy Kelly. She attended St. Vincent High School before meeting her partner in crime and husband Tom. She was the heart of her family and raised five children. An Akron resident for nearly all of her years, Carol cherished her family and supported her children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's interests and activities. She loved gardening, crafting, cooking, fishing at Leesville Lake with Dad, celebrating our lives and trips to Florida to see her son Jeff. She was an avid sports fan of the Zips, Notre Dame, Browns, Raiders and Cavs.
Carol was predeceased by her husband Tom, her parents and her brother, Joe Kelly. Carol was a devoted mother and is survived by her children Tom (Denise), Jeff, Theresa Hagle (Mike), Susan Guban and Liz Lattimer (Don). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Steven Guban (Kristen), Andrew Guban (Lindsey), Annie Chapman (Ryan), Sarah Carver (Justin), Jeremy Foley (Katie Hains), Mark Leffler (Julianne), Patricia Hagle, Jennifer Michael (Tim), Jessica Foley (Alicia Martin), Dan Leffler (Morgan), Denise Hagle (Brad Thompson) and Michael Hagle and great grandchildren Ben and Bryce Chapman, Kai Guban, Leah , Drew and Trent Leffler, Lillian Thompson and Baby Foley due in March. She is also survived by life-long friends Jim and Marie Henry, Club, Larry Jenco, who she considered as another son and Dr. Erwin Maseelall who cared for her for over forty years.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron. Mass of Christian Burial, which will be held at St. Vincent Church Thursday, January 31 at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Summa Hospital, The Valor Home, 1121 Exeter Rd., Akron, OH 44306 or St. Vincent Church, 164 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44303. The family would like to thank the Intensive Care staff at Summa City Hospital.
