Rodney "Rod" Dean Young, 62, passed away February 4, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Rod was born on April 21st, 1956 in Akron, Ohio to parents Tilbert and Donna Young. An employee of Metro RTA for over three decades, Rod was known and loved by many in the Akron community. An avid bargain hunter, he spent his free time shopping local yard sales, flea markets and gun shows to find hidden treasures. He enjoyed escaping to the mountains of Tennessee to spend time with extended family.
Rodney is preceded in death by his father, Tilbert and brother, Michael. He is survived by the love of his life, Deanna Benson; mother, Donna Young; daughters, Stephanie (David) Freeman and Kristin Young; son, Kevin (Vanessa) Young; step-daughters, Jessica and Kelsie Benson; step-son, Dustin Williams; brother, Tim (Laura) Young; sister; Judy (Bill) Stopher; nieces, Trudee (Scott) Moore and Lisa Young; nephews, TR (Katie) Stopher and Michael (Kylie) Young; and grandchildren, Hayden, Blaine, Colton, Jordan, Mackenzie, Caleb, Maleia, Amiyah and Aari.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Rod's life will be held from 1pm-4pm Saturday, February 9th at The Houston Hall, 3069 Houston Rd, Norton. A private service will be held by Dewey Young at 12:15pm. To respect his wishes, Rod asked family and friends to please dress casually.
