Deborah Kathryn Ashley, "Debbie", age 66, of Green, Ohio, died at her home on August 15, 2020 after a short battle with cancer.
She was born on August 19, 1953 in Akron, born to Charles Lyle and Daisy LaVerne (nee Croley) Harkless.
Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Hower High School. She was a retail sales clerk for Acme/Click and Summit Racing. She enjoyed traveling to the beach, she loved to feel the sand on her toes. Her personality was such, that she never met a stranger. Many friends became family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ronald E. "Ron", whom she married on September 18, 1971; her three devoted daughters, Shelly (LB) Keller, Kelly (Bill) Elton and Jenny (Thom) Arnold; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Ashleigh Keller, Grace, Elizabeth and Zachary Elton, and Isabella, Andrew and Natalie Arnold.
Also surviving are her two brothers, Ronald (Deborah) Harkless and Joseph (Brenda) Harris; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends mourn her loss.
Those that preceded her in death were parents, Joseph and LaVerne Harris; her brother, Gary Harkless; and her husband's parents, Carl Ashley and Irene (nee Hippli) Squires.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM and 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
Family and friends may again gather at the funeral home on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM, then we will process to the cemetery for an 11:00 AM graveside service, where Pastor Matthew Stull will celebrate Debbie's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stewart's Caring Place, 2955 West Market Street, Suite #R, Akron, Ohio 44333.
