Charles M. Murphy

Charles Murphy Jr., 65, passed away on January 1, 2023 surrounded by his family and holding his daughter's hand. He was born on January 10, 1957 the youngest of six children the son of the late Charles and Anna Murphy Sr. He graduated from Ellet High School with the class of 1975.
Charles continued the family tradition of the Soap Box Derby and his children kept up the tradition, both winning the Soap Box Derby Championship which was one of Charles's proudest moments.
He was a well read artistic talent with an impeccable music taste. He will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, understanding, patient, unconditional love and his spot on Cosmo Kramer impression. Charles was a wonderful father and grandfather, always inspiring and encouraging Oliver's inherent artistic spirit. Charles was charismatic a kind soul and found peace and serenity in his last years of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Loretta Fenn Kriebel; sister-in-law Connie Murphy; and nephews Greg Fenn and Andrew Fenn.
Charles is survived by his loving family, son Matthew Murphy; daughter Jacqueline (Ron) Adkins; grandson Oliver Adkins; brothers Richard Murphy, Dennis (Debbie) Murphy, and Martin (Diane) Murphy; sister Charleen (Dennis) Shaffer; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
Memorial Visitation will be held January 9, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron).
