Geraldine Frances Brooks

Geraldine "Fran" Brooks, 83, of Akron, passed away on April 11, 2023. She was born on October 7, 1939 to the late Frank and Geraldine {Montgomery} Baum.

In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Brooks, their son Lennie Brooks, and their great-nephew Ari Cardenas.

Fran is survived by her loving daughter, Christine (John) Cerny; son Kevin Brooks; sister Renee (Joe Baker) Garner; grandson Kyle Brooks; nephews Jason and Jeremy Garner; nieces Amy (Hiram) Cardenas and Amanda (Josh Minor) Garner; great-nieces and great-nephews Parker, Madison, Laci, Teagan, Ashlyn, Aria, Aviana, Mariela and Liora.

Fran worked as a legal secretary for over 60 years, was a jury commissioner for Summit County and sat on the Springfield School Board in the '80s. She was involved in the Springfield Booster Club, Springfield Township Junior Improvement Softball League, and her giving spirit seemed to extend to every corner of her community, especially the children. Though she had little free time, she spent it playing bingo, going to casinos, and her favorite pastime, supporting her family in all their activities. Fran loved her animals, especially her dachshunds Charlie and Heidi, and her beloved rescue cat, Taco.

Fran's family would especially like to thank the staff at Mulberry Gardens, and Traditions Hospice, especially Fran's caretaker Joann, for their compassionate care of Fran in her final months.

Private services will be held for her family, and she will be laid to rest with her husband, Frank and their son, Lennie.
