Carolyn J. Frye

Carolyn Jane Frye went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home on September 28th, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born in Akron, Ohio on April 7th, 1939 to mother Rusha and Charles McDaniel. Carolyn was the matriarch of her family and was loved by many. Carolyn was a woman of great faith and was a longtime devoted member of Harmony Baptist Church of Tallmadge and retired from Summit Plastic Company after over 30 years of service. Carolyn also belonged to the VFW Women's Auxillary Club in Mogadore, Ohio. Carolyn enjoyed traveling, spending time with loved ones and tending to her flowers and garden which she won multiple Akron Beautification awards.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Frye, and former husband Gerald Legg Sr.; siblings Paul McDaniel, Pauline Johnson, twin sister Carol Bry, younger brother Kenneth McDaniel; and granddaughter Kara Stanley.

Carolyn is survived by her loving family, five children Sheryl Morgan, Gerald Legg, Lynda Stanley, Janene (Keith) McQuain, and Daniel (Kimberly) Legg; grandchildren Nicholle (Norm) Arman, Jason (Katie) Legg, Jessica Legg , Keith (Allie) McQuain, Kevin McQuain, and Harrison Gifford; six great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 4th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held Thursday at 11:00am with Pastor Bernard Christy officiating.

Interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park.
