Sandra L. Hagey-Kuss

Sandra L. Hagey-Kuss, 77, of Akron, OH, passed away on December 26, 2023 at her home. She was born in Akron, OH, on November 27, 1946 to the late Marvin and Betty (Clement) Bell along with two younger brothers Larry (Sue) Bell, Gary (Linda) Bell. Sandra graduated from Lehman High School in 1964, then attended the University of Akron School of Business from 1964-1966. Sandra was employed by Ohio Bell/Ameritech for 27 years as a systems programmer, before opening her own business, the Ridgelawn Cafe. She was also a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary Post 3383, past member of the Ohio Country and Western Music Association and founding member of the Akron Chapter.

Sandra was married and widowed twice. First to Robert E "Rock" Hagey from February 11, 1973 till his passing in 1987. Secondly to Paul Gerald "Jerry" Kuss from July 7, 1991 till his passing on April 1, 2010.

Sandra was a mother to 11 children, Elizbeth (John) Griffin, Michael (Nicole) Hagey Sr, Robert (Tammy) Hagey, William Hagey, Marilyn (Don, deceased) Buterbaugh, Linda Hagey, Mary Hagey, Katherine (Brett) Aniol, Gradey (Cheri) Kuss (deceased), Grant Kuss, Gregory (Julie, div) Kuss; grandmother to 14 grandchildren, Gideon Griffin, Michael Carson Hagey Jr., Nicholas Hagey, Michelle Buterbaugh, Theresa Buterbaugh, Joshua (Tessa) Kuss, Courtney Kuss (deceased), Mitchell Kuss, Alexander Kuss, Stephanie Brenner, Cassandra Kuss, Brandon Kuss, Abigail Kuss, Daniel Kuss; great grandmother to Lyla Kuss, and a soon to be born baby boy, Matteo Elijah Kuss; aunt to Angela Scott, Brian (Jaimie) Bell, Kristen Bickerstaff, Jackie (Buddy) Cole, Jody (Rob) Sterling,Terri (John) Ianniello; great aunt to many.

Sandra enjoyed her time with family and friends. She was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and watched every game. She enjoyed her many crime shows, crocheting, playing her many online games and she was an avid animal lover. Sandra was an active member of the community, clowning with her husband Rock, they went to many conventions and performed for many children's events. Every year she camped with her family at the Canfield fair. She was an advisor to the VFW Auxiliary Girls and Boys unit. Accompanying her family to the country western dances and performances, especially her father and his band. Playing in dart leagues and winning various awards. She traveled across the nation, spending time with her brother and his family in Denver, Colorado to the mountains of Tennessee, where her father was born and raised. With great pride in Chicago to see her son graduate from Naval Basic Training and driving over 12 hours to visit her son's family during the holidays, while he served in the U.S. Navy. Sandra was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and was a dear friend, colleague, coworker, associate to many people, and knew she was truly loved, and she loved them all.

Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, December 31, 2023 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
