Softly and gently, Anna Marie Confer went home to be with her Lord on December 31. Anna's sweet, kind and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her. During her 82 years, she blessed others with her shining light of compassion and her heart of gold. She was genuine, caring, and generous beyond measure.
Anna was born in Barberton, Ohio, and attended high school there. Anna's adult life revolved around her blended family that would ultimately grow to eight children, 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Anna Scerback, and her brother and his wife, Clement and Wilma Scerback. Anna is survived by Brian Huffer, her devoted companion of many years, and her children Michael Confer, Lori Connell (Tom), Jimmy Confer (Debbie), David Confer, Chris Confer (Kimi), Melissa Pearce (Ron), Tammy Coen, and Bill Confer, Jr. She is also survived by special niece Sharon Scerback Kreps (Dennis).
Apart from raising her family, Anna would cite obtaining her Commercial Driver's License as one of her proudest moments. And, along her life's journey, Anna's love, support, care and protection of animals, particularly the weakest and most vulnerable, exemplified her compassion for all walks of life, and all creatures great and small.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff and caregivers at The Village of St. Edward, Green, where Anna resided the last two years of her life. Under the nurturing and loving care she received there, she made cherished friends, looked forward to playing Bingo each week, and gained a sense of community. Anna's family also extends heartfelt thanks to her team of Northeast Ohio Hospice caregivers for their compassionate care and support.
A future celebration of Anna's life will be held at a later date in 2024. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to The Village of St. Edward, Green Campus, 3813 Fortuna Drive, Akron, OH 44312; The Northeast Ohio Hospice, 10204 Granger Road, Garfield Heights, Ohio 44125, or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741.
