Marvin L. Fisher
Marvin L. Fisher, 55, of Akron, passed away quietly in the comfort of his home on July 13, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his father Alonza Fisher. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Diane; daughter Sherilyn (Damien) Prater; son Steven (Adria) Fisher; grandsons Donovan and Nathaniel Prater; mother Lucille Fisher; sister Nancy (Dutch) Chancey; niece Jamie (John) Pience; and many other family members and friends. Marvin was a member of Wayfarer Masonic Lodge, Valley of Akron Scottish Rite, Tadmor Shrine, and Billow Chapter Order of Eastern Star. He will best be remembered as a coach and mentor to the many young people he worked with in youth athletics. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
