John Paul Greer of The Villages, Florida, went to be with The Lord on Sept. 11, 2009. He was born Dec. 30, 1918 in Avery County, NC to Oren and Laura Greer and retired from Ford Motor Company, Brookpark, OH. He was a very patriotic citizen and a WW II Veteran in the U.S. Army and a life member of VFW and American Legion Posts. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Lena (Cooke) Greer, his second wife of 16 years, Hildred (Parr) Greer and grandson, Randall Tackovich, and 5 siblings. He was a loving father to Jo Ann (Marty) Tackovich, Dimple (Bob) Cunha, Judy (Dan) Matthews all from The Villages, FL, Wanda (Jerry) Brown and Ron W. Greer all from Summerfield, FL, and Dwight (Nicolette) Greer of Aurora, OH; stepson, Ben Frame of AL; brother, Ralph Greer of TN.; and sister, Maude Crowder of NC. He left behind 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of Tri-County Worship Center and appreciated and loved his Pastor, Reverend Bill Campbell. Calling hours will be Thursday, Sept. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. with his beloved Pastor in Akron, Sherman Bailey of Chapel of Prayer officiating. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park with Military Honors. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Tri-County Worship Center Bldg.
