ROOTSTOWN - Gary L. Topper, 63, passed away suddenly on October 8, 2010. He was a competitive Cross Bow Archer, winning several trophies. Gary was a veteran of the U.S.A.F. His most recent passion was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Gary was very passionate about his family, and he was a man you could depend on. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Martha Jane; children, Pam (Kevin) Kirkland, and Jackie (Doug) Scalf; grandchildren, Ashley, Ronnie Sue, and Lindsey; mother, Betty Jane Topper; brothers, Dennis Topper, and Robert (Carol) Topper; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Calling hours will be held Monday, October 11, from 3 to 6 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will follow at 6 pm with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating.
