Mary Ann (Burbick, Dimit) Scaia
Mary Ann Scaia went home to her heavenly father's arms on May 18, 2014. Having celebrated 51 years of marriage November 22, 2013, her priority was her family and her grandchildren. She was a member of Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church in Akron. She loved entertaining and having parties for holidays and events. She and her husband loved to travel, going on many cruises and trips including taking the family on Disney Cruises and vacations. She was born on May 7, 1932 to Wendell (Cy) Holmes Burbick and Hilda Loretta (Weaver) Burbick in New Chambersburg, OH.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hilda; father, Wendell; stepfather, Marion Sanor; first husband, Ralph Dimit, Jr.; oldest son, Ronald Dimit; stepsons, Danny Scaia and Raymond (Todd) Scaia; and niece, Dana Burbick.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond F. Scaia; sons, Gary (Susan) Dimit of Seville, Thomas (Susie) Dimit of Alliance, Steven "Skeeter" (Sue) Scaia of Akron; daughter, Doreen (Ben) Wheeler of Cuyahoga Falls; stepdaughter, Linda Krepps of Alliance; brother, James Burbick of Hartwell, GA; stepsister, Ellen Law of Florida; grandchildren, Lisa Krepps, Dustin (Megan) Dimit, Jessica (Brian) St. Aubin, Derek Dimit, Brandon Dimit, Vincent Scaia, Nicholas Scaia, Anthony Wheeler, Mitchell Wheeler, and Matthew Wheeler; several great-grandchildren; nieces, Loraine (Benny) Brienza, Christine Stillwagon, Darlene (Bob) Havlin; and nephew, David Burbick.
A 1950 graduate of Minerva High School, she worked a number of jobs starting at 16 years old including 22 years at Marlington Schools (1970-1992) where she enjoyed her job and working with the students and 32 years as a Realtor (1978-2010) where she took pride in the service she gave her clients and appreciated their business and friendship over the years.
Family and friends may call on WEDNESDAY, May 21 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A funeral mass will be held FRIDAY, May 23 at 10 a.m. at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd., Akron (corner of Myersville Rd. and Killian Rd.). Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alliance.
