Aaron Michael Davis

Died November 9, 2023

Aaron was born in Akron, Ohio November 4, 1968, to high school sweethearts Joann (Ostrowske) and Jim Davis. He and his brothers, Jack and Ethan grew up having lots of adventures in a neighborhood full of friends – bike riding, fort building, skateboarding.

Aaron found his love of percussion in school, and it helped maintain him for the rest of his life. At 16 he was playing with bands at bars in Kent. His drive to get out and blaze his own trail was so strong that he single-handedly figured out how to take enough classes his junior year of high school so that he could graduate a year early. He found a second family among friends in Kent and especially in the band he played for the longest, Mannequin Odd. His music didn't pay all the bills, so he worked a number of odd jobs that didn't bring him much fulfillment until he started working in a restaurant. He spoke a lot about his joy of creating this delicious food from basic ingredients. Some years later he fell into a job as a carpenter. Again, he had found pride in the ability to create beautiful things out of basic supplies. He spoke with such excitement about the work he did with the last company he worked for.

Aaron has three children; Chloe, Sam, and Rain. He had an exceptional capacity for love and kindness when each of his children was young. He also lived with alcoholism and addiction that led to disastrous disruptions in his life just as things were going so well. Over and over again, he would pull himself back together and try to reconnect. It's been said that the opposite of addiction is connection. Put another way, when a person struggles with addiction it is so hard to maintain connections.

Aaron lit up around his nieces and nephews, especially if there was a drum around that he could play with them. Autumn, Emerson, Ella, and Bennett wish they could have more time with Uncle Aaron. He even got be a Great-Uncle thanks to Autumn with her sons Caiden, Greyson, and Jaxon.

The story of the three Davis boys contained many adventures, some drama, a good bit of comedy, and fierce loyalty. This chapter ended much too soon and we are heartbroken.
