Mae Agnes (Robinson Coleman) Wormald
Early Saturday morning, February 19, 2011, Agnes made her peaceful journey home at the age of 104. Agnes was born in Marion, Kentucky on January 16, 1907, to the late John Franklin and Laura Ellen Robinson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth; her husband of 37 1/2 years, Carol Coleman; her husband of 31 years, Charles Wormald; and her stepchildren, Bill, Charlotte, and Kenneth. She was a longtime member of Springfield Baptist Church where she served faithfully for many, many years. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1924 and went on to attend Western Kentucky State Teacher's College. She was active in PTA, Campfire Girls, Scouts, Mission Societies and also served as a Sunday School teacher and deaconess. In later years, she worked at Polsky's and at the University of Akron's cafeteria and as housemother for Lone Star Fraternity. The thing that Agnes was most thankful for was her family, starting with her parents to the last little great-great-grandchild's birth. There are four remaining generations to celebrate the legacy of her life. She leaves her daughters, Louise (Calvin) Claytor and Eleanor (Ron) Wilkinson; sons, Edwin (Rae) Coleman and Guy (Judy) Coleman; stepdaughter-in-law, Eileen Wormald; grandchildren, David (Sue) Claytor, Patti (Hugh) Jones, Doris Coleman, Debbie (Louis) Comer, Donald Coleman, Amy (Bill) Jariga, Laura (Gabriel) Yacso; step-grandchildren, Mark Wormald and Cheryl (Rick) Beres; 21 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren with more expected in 2011. She will be forever remembered for her sweet, kind and gentle spirit. The family would like to thank the staff of Pebble Creek Nursing Home for their kindness and are grateful for the care given last week by Crossroads Hospice of Green. Family and friends are invited on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, 1920 Krumroy Rd., Akron, with viewing one hour prior to service, Pastor Larry Baldridge and Mark Yacovazzi will officiate.
