The generous, kind, and compassionate heart of Aileen Mae Lay (nee Shaver) ceased beating on March 25, 2005 at age 93.

The fields are quiet today;

a lone plow stands

in silhouette against a golden sunset,

for my hands knew work.

And my children shall gather

together with their children,

for my heart knew love.

My mother's voice has called

for me to come home.

It's suppertime and the circle shall be unbroken,

for my heart will know God.
