Alan David Richards

Alan David "Al" Richards, 67, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on September 28, 2013.

At age 17, Al entered the US Air Force and served his country for 4 years. He currently had been employed at Schneider National for the past 26 years. Al was an avid NASCAR, Ohio State, and Cleveland Browns fan. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids.

Preceded in death by his parents, David and Ines Richards. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Fran, who never left his side; sons, David (Barbara), Shawn (Christy), Bill; daughters, Missy and Shelly; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; brothers, Jim (Kathy) and Phil (Sue); sisters, Linda (Sonny), Nancy (Tim), Jackie; special and devoted friend, Elmer Farmer.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, 5-8 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
