Alex was born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania to the late Agnes Berkley and Pete Porti. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Porti. He served in the US Air Force, was a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, and worked as an electrical engineer where he developed x-ray inspection technology.
Left to cherish his precious memory is his wife of 65 years Sally Porti; their three children Cindy (Doug) Wurtz, Susan (Fred) Cohen, and Alex Porti III; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
All are welcome to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Tuesday, December 19th from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., followed by a procession to Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where well-deserved military honors will be held, and Alex will be laid to rest.
