Alexander S. Condos "Alex"
Alex S. Condos, 84, of Tallmadge, passed away August 16, 2009. Alex was born January 31, 1925 in Akron to the late Stephen and Evangeline Condos. He graduated from Kent Roosevelt in 1944 and joined the U.S. Army. After serving in the Army, Alex served 10 years in the Ohio National Guard 107th. He retired after of 30 years with General Tire and was the scoutmaster of the General Tire Boy Scout Troop 77 for over 10 years. Not one to sit around, he worked for 20 years as a carrier for the Akron Beacon Journal. Alex was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. In his free time, he was an avid bowler and a member of a traveling league. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny A. Condos; brothers, Gust P. and Nicholas S. Condos; and sisters, Annette Haveles and Anastasia Richner. He leaves to mourn him his loving sons, Ronald L. (Cheryl) of Tallmadge, Don W. (Brenda) of Akron, John M. of Houston, TX, and Tommy H. (Vickie) of Melbourne, FL; step-children, Greg (Bonnie) Reid of Tallmadge, Charlotte (Ronnie) Speedy of Cuyahoga Falls and Chuck (Jennifer) Reid of Cuyahoga Falls; siblings, George S. (Joyce) Condos of Phoenix, AZ, John M. (Pam) Chepes of Pinkerington, OH, and Maria Murray of Stow; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday from 5-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. with Fr. Jerry Hall officiating. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery. Alex expressed his wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or the Father George and Zafera Bartz Camp Scholarship Fund, 129 S. Union St., Akron, OH 44304.
