Alexander W. Riley, Jr., 73, passed away February 15, 2023 after an extended illness. Born in Akron, Ohio to Alexander, Sr. and Marceline (Blackburn) Riley, he was a lifelong area resident. Al graduated from Hoban High School and he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was proud of being in successful recovery over the past 28 years he greatly enjoyed riding his motorcycles as well as spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his cousin/best friend, Stanle Riley; grandson, Christopher Best. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Tari; children, Yalonda Duckworth, Anisa Riley, Sarah Shipe, Alexander W. Riley III (Jakkia), William Riley (Chrissy), Frank Riley (Stephanie); step children, Jacqueline Smith, Rasheed Smith, William (Mary) Best, Jonathon Best, Justin Best (Mary), Tara (Demetris), James Goodwin III; grandchildren, Alonzo Staten (Jaclyn), Christin Copeland (Joseph), Kayla Duckworth, Treja, Jai, Alexander Riley IV, William Riley II, Kaydence Riley, Caleb and Sophia, Mackenzie, Tristan and River Riley; Bradley, Autumn and Chloe Shipe; Danielle, Alan, Natalyia and Noelle Spencer; Justin II, Jazmyn, Daysha, Sarah, Katie and Maggie Best; Lawrence Goodwin; great grandchildren, Christiana, Airiana and Joseph Copeland. Jr.; many cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center for their loving care of Al.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Al's name to the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center.
