Pastor Alfred D. Lewis, age 91 of Alliance, Ohio, formerly of Chicago, IL, peacefully entered into God's Kingdom while at home with his wife on Wednesday December 29, 2021. Alfred was born May 14, 1930 in Wampum, PA, the son of the late Joe and Mary (nee Brown) Lewis.
He attended Wampum High School and was employed for 41 years at Arrow Lumber in Chicago. He also was a US Veteran who served in the Korean War.
Pastor Lewis became an ordained minister in 1992. He served in various capacities such as Deacon, assistant Pastor, he taught Sunday School, he had many years in the ministry at New Zion Grove M. B. Church in Chicago and his current church, Second Baptist Church in Alliance, Ohio.
Pastor Lewis loved fishing and spreading the word of God and being with his wife, the former Paula (nee Howard) Lewis, whom he married on April 20, 2008.
Pastor Lewis was married for 13 years to Paula Y. Lewis, who survives him, along with his children, Jonathan L. Howard of San Diego, CA, Shirley M. Howard of Chicago, IL, Christina M. Sykes of Gary, IN, Dwanna Y. (Lamando) Blackmond of Charles City, IA, and Amisha Adams of Chicago, IL; his sister, Lonnie Mae Robinson of Wampum, PA; his mother-in-law, Dr. Shirley M. Howard Sr of Robbins, IL; his brother-in-law Christopher J. (Vannisha) Howard of Matteson, IL; sister-in-law, Patrice J. (Marcus) Rubio of Harvey, IL; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two longtime friends, Dwayne "Shagg" Crenshaw and Demetrius "Speedy" Humphries; his godchildren, Paige and William Parkinson and Danielle Seymour and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Second Baptist Church, 820 East Patterson Street, Alliance, Ohio 44601, where Pastor Willie Bell will celebrate Alfred's home going.
Family and friends may visit at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
