Alice A. Hoover (nee Swope) passed away March 30, 2009. Born February 10, 1915, in Altoona, PA., Alice lived in the Akron area for the past 67 years. Alice's favorite pat-times included Bingo, cards and puzzles. Preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Hoover in 2003; daughter, Alice "Toots" Cain (1965); and sons David (2000), Howard (2005) and Glenn (2007). She is survived by her sons, Gerald "Mike" (Carol) of Spokane, Wash; Rex (Patty) of Sumer Duke, Va.; daughter, Ruth (nee Hoffman) Wolbert; daughter-in-laws, Earline Hoover and Patti Hoover, all of Akron; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Barb) of KY; and sisters, Jessie (AZ) and Ruth (PA). Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held Friday, April 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. with Pastor Don Rohrbacher officiating. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
