Alice Haley, 69, went home to be with her Lord on March 28, 2012.
She was born in 1942 to the late Ralph and Charlotte (Jamieson) Haley in Wooster, OH, where she resided for most of her life. She lived in Akron from 1992 until the time of her death. She worked for United Telephone (Embarq) Company for twenty-three years as a long-distance operator. After retiring, she spent many hours volunteering at The Chapel. Among some of the things she did was helping to do office projects for the different departments within the church. She also helped to provide the refreshments for the Gateway Bible Study, and also for her ABF's First Sunday Lunch. Her hobbies were crocheting, knitting, embroidery, and making things with plastic canvas.
She is survived by sister, Lucille Booth; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Jane Haley, June Faith Haley, and Ruth Marie (Haley) Marti; nephews, Lance and James Marti; and great-nephew, Jason Marti.
A funeral service will be held Monday, 12 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH, Pastor Steve Bucy officiating. Interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Chapel Care Ministry, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, OH 44304.
