Alice T. Rauckhorst (nee Fuerst)
Alice T. Rauckhorst, 73, of Akron, passed away May 6, 2010. Alice was born May 1, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrew and Mary Fuerst. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Holy Name High School. Alice had a love of the fine arts and taught her children to appreciate culture and education. She was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed family celebrations. Alice was a member of the Sewing Squares and the St. Matthew Parish Holy Name Society, where she was a past Woman of the Year. Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and her contagious laugh will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret "Mickey" Dare. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Bernie; children, Peggy (Paul) Kerr, Laura (Glenn) McDowell, Valerie (Joe) Kelly, Bernie (Shelly) Rauckhorst, Martin Rauckhorst, Terri Mousavi, and Diane (Bruce) Casterline; sisters, Mary (Ed) Barrett and Kay (Ralph) McPherson; and 22 grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Benton St., Akron. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
