Alicia Sikes

October 24, 1982 — January 3, 2022

Alicia (Hobbs) Sikes, age 39, passed away on January 3, 2022, at the same hospital where she was born and where she volunteered forty hours a week at the age of 14. The daughter of Mary Jo Coull and the late Virgil J. Hobbs, she was born on October 24, 1982.

Allie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gilbert and Hazel Coull and Virgil and Alice Hobbs; her father, her cousin, Jonathan Dailey; her dear friend, Shannon Jenkins, and her babies; Riley and Avery.

Allie will be greatly missed by Stephen Wayne Sikes II, her husband of almost 8 years; daughters, Shannon Hazel, 5, and Lydia Jane, 23 months; mother, Mary Jo Coull; sister, Tristan Palevich; brothers, Jeffrey Hobbs and Virgil Hobbs; in-laws, Steve and Deb Sikes; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and friends.

Alicia attended Leggett Elementary, Riedinger Middle School, Central-Hower High School, Springfield High School, and Portage Lakes Career Center, graduating from SHS in 2001.

Alicia was a very caring and generous individual, loved by family and friends, co-workers and many patients. She had worked as a pharmacy technician since high school – at Rite Aid, Kaiser-Permanente, and Giant Eagle (in Green as a floater, traveling throughout five counties, and most recently in Springfield Township.)

She was a loving wife to Stephen, having met him first online and then in person in Nashville, halfway between their homes. Her mother and his parents were also in town for the occasion. Though she lived in Ohio and he in Texas, their families still managed to find a few mutual acquaintances to offer reassurance. They married on April 18, 2014.

She was a devoted mother to Shannon and Lydia, often making up songs to amuse and teach them.

She was a member of Southeast Church of Christ, she also attended gospel meetings at other congregations in the surrounding area whenever possible. She enjoyed singing clean country songs and silly children's songs, but loved singing praises to God most of all.

Per Alicia's request, her body will be cremated, and a private service will be held. A celebration of life will take place in the future. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to gofundme.com/f/held-for-the-sikes-family.

All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron.
