Alva Summers, born on Aug. 14, 1926 in Fairmont, WV. On May 15, 2011, God called his angel home. She passed away with her son by her side. Alva joined in heaven by the love of her life, Ray B. Summers, Sr.; daughter and best friend, Jeannie Powell; son, Larry Summers, Sr.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Ray Summers, Jr., Gary Summers, and John Summers; her daughters, Carol Desrosiers (William), Linda Pierce, and Michele Uridalies (Terry); and also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. The world lost a wonderful mother, friend, and grandmother, but heaven got an amazing woman. "Mom we love and will miss you." Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 19, from 4 to 9 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will be held Friday, May 20, at 11 am with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
