Alvin Ralph "Bud" Marteny

Alvin Ralph "Bud" Marteny passed away April 16, 2007. Born to the late Ralph and Dollie Marteny in Morgantown WV, Al lived most of his life in Akron OH. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber and was a Veteran of WW II as a Sgt. in the Army Infantry European Theater. He was also a Post Commander and life member of Firestone VFW Post 3383 in Akron, OH. He was known to many as a good samaritan and willing to help anyone in need. He was an American Patriot. "Bud" was an avid fisherman, hunter and card player. He spent his summers at Rice Lake, Canada. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Juanita and brother, Pete. Al will be deeply missed by his wife, of 59 years, Helen; sons, Alvin (Jan) and Donald J (Terri); daughter, Cynthia (David) Parravani; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruthie (Louie) along with many loving family members and all his friends from the VFW, Goodyear and Rice Lake, Canada. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church, 139 S. High St., Akron. Family and friends may call on Sunday at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron from 3 - 6 pm and also on Monday 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
