Amma Claudene Sharp
Amma Claudene Sharp, born May 3, 1924, to Okey and Myrtle Smith in Elana, West Virginia, passed away July 4, 2010. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Denver (Jim), December, 2009 and cherished daughter, Sharon in 1999, she is survived by daughters, Karen Fisher, Joy (Ron) Dies, and Connie (Jim) Schneider. Grandchildren: Ron (Daphne) Windham, Chris (Brigitte) Fisher, Bethany (Bill) Lemley, Amy (Rich) Craft, Jason Pritchard, Brittany (Alan) Shiplett, and John Giua. Great-grandchildren Ron Windham, Jr., Eric, Madison, and Garrett Yoder, Alessa Fisher, Olivia, Claudia, and Veronica Lemley, and Sierra, Savanna, Shianne, Slade and Soren Shiplett. Special pet, Pomeranian Dandee. "Mommy" was devoted to our Dad and her four daughters. Having never worked outside the home, she strived to provide a place that we often took for granted as we were growing up but later would come to appreciate as a strong foundation for our lives. The love, laughter, and faith in God evidenced in our parents' lives became the cornerstone of our family ties. "Mommy" found joy in the simple things in life…planting flowers playing Scrabble, watching game shows with our Dad, recording family history, visiting with neighbors, corresponding with special sisters-in-law and nieces, and spending time with her family.
Proverbs 31:28 expresses best our heartfelt thoughts: "Her children arise up and call her blessed."
Special thanks to Summa Hospital Palliative Care Center, Altercare of Hartville and Dr. Mark Smith. Also to our Aunt Tressie who shared her "servant's heart." There will be no calling hours. Family services will be held at the Hillside Memorial Park Chapel, Akron, Ohio on Wednesday, July 7, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Harold Bradley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 2780 Canton Road, Uniontown, Ohio, 44685.
