Ann Bell Bray

August 1, 1921 — May 30, 2018

Anna Bell Allen Pewitt Bray, was born August 1, 1921 to the late George and Mattie Allen, in Somerville, Tennessee. She departed this life on May 30, 2018 while being cared for at the Sam Swope Care Center, Masonic Home of Louisville Kentucky. She was also being cared for by her daughter, Uneobia and Son-In-Law, Rev. Otis T. Saulsberry Jr.

Anna was baptized at a young age and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Somerville, Tennessee. She went to the public school and she was the fourth of six sisters and one brother, all deceased, Alease Campbell, Pauline Hess, Hallie Springfield, Estelle Henderson, Hattie Williamson, Elmer Woodland, and George W. Allen.

At a young age, her and Lincoln married. The girls were very small when they moved to Cleveland. She was a very good cook and Missionary. She joined East Mount Vernon Baptist Church, as did her husband and girls. She went back to school and on August 15, 1968 she received her diploma from Cleveland Extension High School. She was a retired school bus driver for the Cleveland public schools. My mother was a faithful Sunday school teacher and she never missed a prayer meeting.

When Lincoln, our father, passed, my mother moved her membership to Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. There she met, and married, Robert Bray. She was in that union until he passed on September 3, 2003. Anna was faithful at her church. She was a Matron, a member of the nursing guild, a Deaconess, and loved cooking fried pies, cakes, and many other pies.

She was under watch care in Louisville, Kentucky at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with her daughter, Uneobia.

She leaves to cherish, and treasure, her countless memories, one daughter, Uneobia F. Saulsberry, and her husband, the Reverend Otis T. Saulsberry Jr. Five Grandchildren; Kenneth L. Jones (Shirley), Karen D. Grinstead (Tyrone Sr.), Kathy A. Jones Hayden (Curtis) and Otis T. Saulsberry III (Claudia). 12 Great-Grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Her words: "When I've done the best I can, I want my crown. Oh, my record will be clear."
