Annabelle Murine Jockisch Hayes, born on April 13, 1921 in Beardstown, Illinois to Mr. Henry A Jockisch and Rosa Della Williams, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021.
Annabelle was the ninth of 10 children, and Grace, Cliff, Homer, Albert, Robert Lee, Lloyd, Russ, Bernice and George have all preceded her in death.
Annabelle met her husband Tom E. Hayes while he was in the service, and they married on March 10, 1944. With Tom in the service, she came to Akron, Ohio with their two children, and he later joined her, working at Firestone. Three more children joined the family, making them a family of seven.
Annabelle is survived by her children, Carolyn, Mary (John), John (Armelda), JoAnn (Jerry) and Phillip (Cathy); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She has worked in many jobs, during The Depression she worked at Sanderson Porter as an inspector for parts of ammunition. After moving to Akron, she worked in a dress shop, Robinson's, in downtown Akron, and then for Acme Fresh Market for 27 years.
Tom passed away in 1980, and Annabelle stayed single for the rest of her years.
She enjoyed many crafts, sewing, golfing, square dancing, and enjoyed genealogy, many years before they had computers. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, going to Germany and seeing her maiden name, Jockisch on a lot of their canned goods. She traveled to many states in the U.S. Annabelle was always ready for another adventure, be it a cruise to the Bahamas and camping, and she loved gardening and growing lovely flowers. She joined "The Red Hat Society," The Ruby Darlings of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and did a lot of activities with them and met a lot of friendly people. She was a "jack of all trades."
She attended the Hillwood Chapel in Green/Uniontown, Ohio for many years, and was baptized into God's Kingdom. Her last home was Clifton Forge, VA, where she lived to be 100 years old, with her son John and his wife Armelda and family. She had a wonderful time celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends.
We are very thankful to God for taking care of our mother and seeing to her needs. All our love, Carolyn, Mary, John, JoAnn & Phil.
Annabelle's family would like to thank Mount Regional Hospice care workers for their excellent care.
She asked instead of flowers being sent, donations to the "Pathfinders" class that she attended, be made to Hillwood Chapel, 4824 S. Arlington Rd. Uniontown, OH 44685.
