Arlene F. Swartz Bostaph, 79, of Ellet, left this earth on April 16, 2011 into the waiting arms of God and her Family. Preceded in death by Tom, the love of her life and husband of 48 years; her infant daughter, Deborah Ann; grandson, Thomas Bostaph II; parents, Fawn and Carl Swartz; brothers, Ralph and Jack Swartz; and sister, Ruth Dice. Arlene was born in Akron on December 23, 1931 and graduated from Ellet High in 1949. She married Tom on May 4, 1952 and lived the majority of her life in Akron, with a short stay in Tucson, AZ while Tom was stationed there during the Korean War. Arlene is survived by her sons, James (Suzette) Bostaph and Sheldon Bostaph; granddaughter, Autumn Hardy; great-granddaughter, Tayler BreeAna Hardy; sister, Dolly (Ralph) Petit; sister-in-law, Josephine Swartz; and brother-in-law, Floyd Dice. She leaves many wonderful nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will greatly miss her. Since February 2010, she had a wonderful caregiver Rikki who gave her many hours of excellent quality care daily. We also want to thank Dr. Mark Smith, the Palliative Care Unit doctors and nurses of Akron City Hospital. Mom always put her family before herself. She loved cooking big meals every holiday. She loved crafts, painting, and sewing beautiful quilts and many other handmade items that will be cherished. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where visitation will be Wednesday from 11-12 followed by a 12 noon funeral service. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
