Arlene G. Christman, 81, of Akron, passed away December 8, 2007 at her residence. She was born July 4, 1926 in Woodsfield, Ohio to the late Urban & Eloise Crum and resided in Akron for over 50 years.. Arlene was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Akron and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Bernadine Burkhart. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Christman of Akron; daughter, Donna Kinser (Harry) of Opelika AL; son, Nelson Christman (Linda) of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Elaine Penn (Larry) of Uniontown, Michael Kinser (Amber) of Auburn AL, Jason Kinser of Opelika AL, Jennifer Christman (Roy) of Akron, John Christman (Sarah) of Tallmadge and Jill Wegner (Jonathan) of Tallmadge; great-grandchildren, Trevor Potts of NC, Chandler McCoy of Auburn AL, Malorie Bates of Akron, Cale Kinser of Auburn AL, Ally Kinser of Opelika AL and Joshua Wegner of Tallmadge; brothers, Donald Crum (Bonnie) of Tallmadge and Clarence Crum (Opal) of Woodsfield; brother-in-law, John Burkhart of Rittman; special close friends, Ann Drechsler and Phyllis Joel. Calling hours will be Monday from 1 - 3 & 7 - 9 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jay Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
