Arlene Janet {Sutter} Dutka

Arlene Janet "Jan" Dutka, 84, of Barberton, passed away on December 22, 2023. She was born on September 27, 1939 to the late William O. and Mary C. {Bowker} Sutter.

In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her former husband Bob Clark; brothers Bill and Bob Sutter; nephew Bobby Sutter.

Jan is survived by her brother Larry (Carol) Sutter and her loving children, Carol (Rick) Speelman, Jane (David) Hicks, James (Laural) Slaughter, Jeanette Coleman, Kristine Clark; grandchildren Tabitha, Brandy (James), Savanna, Marc (Deanna), Joe (Tarrah), Melissa (Tommy), Michael (Jessica), Leann (Ed), Camden (Amanda), Amber (Michelle), Staci (Randy), James (Amanda), Michael, Brittany, Chelsea, Jonathan; 24 great-grandchildren; former spouses Jim Slaughter and Pete Dutka.

Jan loved gardening, and watching the wildlife that came around. She enjoyed coloring, and taking drives through the countryside. When she was younger, she enjoyed roller skating; it was on a bus ride to the rink that she met Jim! Jan was a talented baker, and apple dumplings were her specialty. She loved her family more than anything, and worked hard to ensure they were always cared for and able to make special memories.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. There will be no formal services. Jan will be laid to rest at Dundee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jan's memory are suggested to the American Heart Association.
