Arnold Theo Duckett
Arnold Theo Duckett, 69, passed away on March 10, 2011. He was born February 16, 1942 in Tellico Plains, Tennessee. Arnold grew up in Akron and graduated from Kenmore High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 – 1964 on the nuclear guided cruiser, The USS Long Beach. After returning to Akron and while attending college he worked at General Tire Research & Development. He received his B. A. Ed & M. A. Ed from the University of Akron. Arnold taught Physics, Biology and general sciences at Springfield Local Schools retiring with 30 years service. Preceded in death by his father, Fred Duckett; and sister, Bonnie Yoder. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Terry; children, Lisa Carley, Bill Imrie (Jenny), Robert Imrie (Linda) and Michelle Duckett (Patrick Gillentine); mother, Marietta Quinley; 6 granddaughters; sister, Gail Miller (Clarence); a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his beloved companions, Maddie & Beau. A special thanks to his friends for their steadfast support throughout his battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He loved you dearly. A Memorial Service will be conducted 7:00 p.m., Saturday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron with Mr. John Ward officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the service begins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Springfield High Science Department.
