Arnold W. Shinn, 80, passed away on December 7, 2008. He was born on January 12, 1928 in Evans, WV, to the late Roy and Laura May Shinn. Arnold was a veteran of WWII, having served with the US Army. He retired from Giant Eagle after 5 years of service. Arnold was a hard worker who enjoyed life and always "stopped to smell the roses." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Gadal; brothers Henry Lee and George Shinn; and sister Margaret Wheeler. Survivors include sons Arnold Wesley (Linda), Russell Keith, and William Joseph (Cindy); daughters Barbara Shinn and Diana (Pete) Melnik; stepdaughters Darlene Solkoski, Judy Kassinger, and Lawana (Norman) Toler; brother Robert Lee (Betty); sisters Eliza Critchfield and Elsie (Don) Hess; sister-in-law Yvonne Shinn; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
