Arthur Robert Andes
Arthur Robert Andes, 78, died peacefully March 7, 2005, at Akron City Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family through a long and hard-fought illness. Art ("Artie") was born in Powhatan, Ohio, on July 13, 1926, and was raised in Shadyside, Ohio, as one of seven children. He served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Randolph. Following the military, Art met Jo Emanuel of Akron, Ohio, and enjoyed 50 years of married life. During that time, he made a successful living as a real estate property owner through which he made many friends and assisted hundreds of grateful tenants. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his feisty spirit, quick wit, and unparalleled generosity. He will be deeply missed by his wife and three loving sons. Art is preceded in death by his mother and father, Marie and Phillip Andes; brothers, Robert and Edward Andes; brother-in-law, Tony Staresinic; and great-grandson, Caleb Lindsay. He is survived by his wife, Jo and three sons, Arthur Michael, Brent Phillip, and Michael Anthony; sisters, Delores Pawloski (Walter), Marie Andes, Nadine Staresinic, and brother, Phil Andes (Betty); grandchildren, Michelle, Heather, Sarah, Cadie, Amanda, Crystal, and Eric; and seven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their deep felt gratitude to the staff of Semper Care for their dedication and commitment throughout Art's illness; with special thanks to Dr. Michael Wells and Dr. Gwendolyn Hughes for their unmatched concern, compassion, and love for Artie. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
