Arthur Platt

Arthur "Wayne" Platt, age 78 of Akron, passed away on February 21, 2013 at his home. He was born on October 27, 1934 to Arthur and Lucille Platt. The best father anyone could ask for and a devoted husband with a kind-hearted spirit. Wayne often enjoyed spending time with friends at the Army Navy Garrison Post 273. He served his country as a former Corporal of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Wayne retired as a city truck driver after many years.

Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jenneth (Brown); sister, Wanda Forsyth; brother, Laban Platt and his parents. Survived by his children, Jenny McDermitt, Tami (Randy) Petersen and Craig Platt; grandchildren, Angela Taylor, Aaron Smith, Randy Petersen, Jr., Shiloh Moorehead; 3 great granddaughters, Katie, Lori and Emma; sisters, Jeanette Parks and Carol Ferrell; brother, Douglas (Angel) Platt; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, Feb 25, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, Feb 26, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Forsyth officiating. Final resting place will be at Hillside Memorial Park.
